Pazyryk 207 x 299 cm
Hand Knotted Pure Wool
A reproduction of the Pazyryk carpet - one of the oldest surviving examples of the ancient craft of rug weaving known to exist.
Buried in an iron age tomb of an ancient Scythian nobleman in the hills of Kazakhstan between the 3rd and 4th century BC, the Pazyryk rug was preserved in ice for thousands of years before being discovered in 1949.
The original Pazyryk design features a ribbon pattern, with borders featuring deer and warriors on horseback.
This reproduction was hand knotted in Afghanistan with pure wool - continuing a tradition dating back centuries.
